Our maps by email service is the quickest and easiest way of tracing the approximate whereabouts of Openreach equipment before you start digging – especially if you need to locate our network on a regular basis.

You'll need to download and fill in this form and email it back to us to register for this password-protected service. There’s an annual charge to use this service, covering support and admin.

The maps by email service is available 24 hours all year round (Excluding planned changes). The administration helpdesk is contactable Monday to Friday 08:30–16:30 excluding bank holidays.

Once registered, you can use the maps by email site.

Why should I use the MBE service?

It's the quickest and easiest way of finding out where our network is located before you start work.

How do I access the MBE service?

You will need to apply for a password by completing the application form and emailing it back to maps.by.email@openreach.co.uk. You can have as many user ID's as you need for your company. However, the user IDs and passwords are unique to individuals and should not be shared. You can add new users any time.

How much does it cost to access the MBE service?

There is an annual charge for support and administration. To find out how much it costs, get in touch with the team.

What happens if I have problems using the service?

If you need help with maps by email, please get in touch with the team.

Can I use MBE and still send enquiries by fax or post?

Maps by Email replaces fax and post for registered users, except for larger areas.

What if my proposed location area is too big for MBE to cover?

Maps by email can be used for larger scale areas, get in touch with the team to ask for a user guide on how to do this.

How do I know if our computers can access the website?

Most standard computers can access maps by email. If in doubt, get in touch with the team.
